"La arquitectura modular consiste en el diseño y manejo de sistemas compuestos por elementos repetitivos (módulos), similares en tamaño, forma y funcionalidad. Estos pueden conectarse entre sí, reemplazarse o agregarse"

Si bien es cierto la arquitectura modular nos da esa ventaja de adaptabilidad en el diseño en el cual nos permite añadir o eliminar cuantos módulos queramos y poder generar infinidad de posibilidades de diseño de un proyecto partiendo de un módulo, tenemos que tener en cuenta que la parte compleja en diseñar un proyecto modulado se encuentra en el funcionamiento correcto de los espacios que alberga cada módulo, en saber que en cada espacio se desarrollan múltiples actividades y tienen funciones distintas, por lo cual, tienen distintas necesidades sea de iluminación, ventilación, circulación, orientación, etc ; y esto debe darse mientras se mantiene los limites estrictos de forma y tamaño del módulo.

La arquitectura modular se caracteriza por ser versátil ya que nos brinda la ventaja de poder utilizarla en instalaciones permanentes o temporales, de esta manera poder llegar a lugares remotos, donde no exista la facilidad de poder construir edificios convencionales.

¿Podríamos decir que la arquitectura modular es o podría convertirse en una opción de arquitectura sostenible hoy en día?

Hoy por hoy el gran impacto ambiental generado por la construcción tradicional con materiales ; ; como concreto, ladrillos, acero, etc; que han pasado por procesos químicos y que nos biodegradables ademas del extenso tiempo de ejecución de un proyecto que entre mayor es mayor es el impacto ambiental que genera en el medio y sumando a esto el elevado costo del proyecto.

Frente a esto ¿Que opciones nos brinda la arquitectura modular para solucionar estas problemáticas actuales en el ámbito de la construcción y el impacto medio ambiental?

La Arquitectura modular se puede llegar a convertir en una arquitectura sostenible teniendo siempre en cuenta la materialidad con la que se elabore como por ejemplo la madera o material reciclado como el uso de containers, que ser considerablemente menor el impacto generado en el ambiente en comparación a una construcción convencional.

Otra ventaja importante que nos brinda es que el tiempo de ejecución del proyecto es mucho menor a una construcción convencional, muchos de estos módulos pueden ser prefabricados e instalados fácilmente y son de fácil armado, esto también generara menos mano de obra y uso de maquinaria y de por si sera económicamente mas rentable este tipo de proyectos con una arquitectura modular prefabricada.

Another important advantage that it gives us is that the execution time of the project is much less than a conventional construction, many of these modules can be prefabricated and easily installed and are easy to assemble, this will also generate less labor and use of machinery and In case this kind of projects with a prefabricated modular architecture will be economically more profitable.
